Zagreb, 2022 - tenth ECCB Conference

The 10th Conference of the European Committee for Conservation of Bryophytes was held in Zagreb, Croatia from 24th to 27th May 2022. It was organised by the Department Biology and the Botanical Garden of the University of Zagreb.
52 bryologists (four of them on-line) participated on the conference from almost all over Europe (Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Norway, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherland). There were 23 oral presentations and 18 posters in a wide range of topics like; From genetic to habitat diversity and how to asses and restore bryophyte diversity, Bryophyte diversity and conservation beyond the national approach, Insights into national bryophyte conservation, Monitoring bryophyte diversity, Species diversity and floristics.
The final two days were spent with excursions in famous biodiversity hotspots and iconic landscapes of Croatia, in Gorski Kotar Mts under Risnjak peak and in Plitvice lakes National Park. The latter is inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage list for its outstanding and picturesque series of tufa lakes, caves, and connected waterfalls.
During the conference ECCB meeting was held, where important issues were discussed as significant achievements of the ECCB in recent years and the future of ECCB (see more in Minutes).
